In solidarity ‘exchange offices’, you can exchange your cash for supermarket vouchers (usually worth 50 euros) from REWE, ALDI, LIDL, DM & Co. and use them to pay for your shopping.
The supermarket vouchers were purchased by people from the affected districts of Thuringia using their payment cards. They can then use the cash exchanged in the exchange campaign as they see fit – in contrast to the credit on the payment card.
